The canvas is unlined and there is frame abrasion at the extreme edges. There are a few scattered imperfections on the surface of the painting. Under UV: Although some pigments fluoresce unevenly, they appear to be original to the artist.

The present work depicts Thermal Kem, a power plant located in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The artist moved to Rock Hill in 1973 to join the faculty at Winthrop University. He served as the chair of the art department at Winthrop until his retirement in 1984, and executed the present work shortly after.
