The present work depicts Thermal Kem, a power plant located in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The artist moved to Rock Hill in 1973 to join the faculty at Winthrop University. He served as the chair of the art department at Winthrop until his retirement in 1984, and executed the present work shortly after.
