The Red Dozen

incised with the artist's monogram and dated 64 (on the largest element)

sheet metal, wire and paint

18 by 41 in.

45.7 by 106 cm.

Executed in 1964.

This work is registered in the archives of the Calder Foundation, New York, under application number A07321.

This work is in very good and sound condition overall. The elements move smoothly and freely. Under close inspection, there is evidence of light wear and handling visible along the edges, including unobtrusive surface abrasions and scattered pinpoint losses, typical of a kinetic work. Also visible under close inspection but not apparent in normal viewing conditions, there are scattered areas where the red paint appears mismatched.

At the purchaser's discretion, the Calder Foundation refers the work to Yenom Studios to treat a previous retouching of the sculpture. This is a recommendation from the Calder Foundation, and is not required. Should the new owner elect to pursue the suggested treatment, there would be no cost incurred by the successful purchaser.
