Femme et oiseau devant le soleil

signed Miró (lower right); signed Miró, titled and dated 1968 (on the verso)

gouache, wax crayon and brush and ink on paper

38½ by 27½ in.

98 by 70 cm.

Executed in 1968.

This work is in very good condition. Executed on cream laid paper. The right and left edges are slightly creased, and there are few artist pinholes along all four of the edges, some with associated very small tears. There is a 1 inch repaired tear in the red pigment at the lower center edge. There is some minor discoloration along the edges, notably at upper edge. Slight pigment shrinkage in the bright red pigments in the lower center. The sheet undulates in places, which is inherent to the artist's process of heavily working the medium. Along the right center edge, there is a 1/4 inch tear.

Framed: 54½ by 42⅜ in. (138 by 108 cm.)
