This early work by Botero is still stretched on its original stretcher. The canvas is well stretched. The paint layer is stable and seems to be clean. There are no retouches.
The uneven glossy finish in the black colors in the upper right and upper left provides a slightly chalky feeling. The artist quite radically changed the composition in the upper left when he painted over an object with diagonal stripes in a pale blue color. This pentimenti has begun to show through again. A hint of the stripes can be seen and some cracking reveals the color underneath. This is by no means unusual. The work could also easily be hung as is. Overall, the work is in excellent condition.
