Born in Daegu, South Korea in 1947 and immigrated to France in 1972, Myonghi Kang spends her life between two countries. During the post-war period, she sailed through the many waves of abstraction—especially Lyrical Abstraction in France—before formulating her distinctive style. Always accompanied by her brush and paint, Myonghi travels to all corners of the world and seeks inspirations through deconstructing and reconstructing nature. As such, the colourful realm that defines her paintings on canvas is not merely a play of light and shadow, but a space filled with her deepest emotions, where the artist becomes one with nature.

Myonghi’s paintings have previously been exhibited in major museums around the globe, including Musée National d'Art Moderne, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris in 1985, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul in 1989, and National Art Museum of China, Beijing in 2005. As the first painting by Myonghi to have ever appeared in the international auction market, Zinnia, with its elegant and abstract floral motifs, aptly opens the door to a world of dazzling colours and boundless energy.

姜明姬1947年生於韓國大丘，1972年定居法國，其人生縱橫於韓國與法國之間，其藝術亦在戰後抽象—尤其法國抒情抽象主義—的浪潮中誕生。明姬與畫具為伴，踏足世界每個角落，在大自然的解構與重塑中尋求創作靈感；藝術家用萬紫千紅在畫布上捕捉光影與色彩，貫注自己的豐沛情感，與自然融為一體。姜明姬曾在全球各地重要博物館舉行展覽，包括1986年在巴黎龐比度藝術中心，1989年在首爾國立現代美術館，2005年在北京中國美術館等。《百日草》是姜明姬首登國際拍賣之作，其以彩筆抽象重塑花卉自然之美，帶領觀者進入生生不息的炫彩世界。
