Bhupen Khakhar

Bhupen Khakhar produced the current work during his residency at the Europees Keramisch Werkcentrum (EKC) in Den Bosch, the Netherlands. He spent 6 weeks at the center where he experimented with the three-dimensional medium of ceramic. In the present lot, Bhupen's figures jostle amongst buildings and palms, in a playful riverine scene. These vignettes are tightly enclosed within the circumference of the plate, creating a small, vibrant world in ceramic.
