Conceived circa 1878-82 and cast in bronze in an edition of at least 13; this example was cast in bronze in 1959.


This work will be included in the forthcoming Catalogue Critique de l'oeuvre sculpté d'Auguste Rodin currently being prepared by the Comité Rodin in collaboration with Galerie Brame & Lorenceau under the direction of Jérôme Le Blay under the archive number 2019-6013B.

Varied green brown patina. There is wear to the patina in places predominantly to the raised areas. There are some minor surface scratches to the bronze in places, including to the to the figure's proper left arm and leg. There are areas of matte patina to the proper left side of the figure and losses to the patina in places. There is dust to the crevices and evidence of verdigris to the underside of the raised arm. This work is in overall good condition.
