The canvas is unlined. Inspection under UV light reveals no obvious signs of retouching but it does reveal an uneven varnish layer with some lines of discoloured varnish that fluoresce. There are a small number very fine lines of craquelure in places only visible upon very close inspection and some paint shrinkage to a leaf in the lower left quadrant. There is some wear and surface dirt to the extreme edges consistent with age and handling and also as a result of an historic framing arrangement. There is some surface dirt and fly spots to the composition. This work is in overall very good original condition and would benefit from a clean.
