Paysage de Normandie

signed Raoul Dufy (lower right)

oil on canvas

46.5 by 55cm., 18¼ by 21⅝in.

Framed: 55.6 by 64.5cm., 21⅞ by 25⅜in.

Painted in 1927.

The canvas is not lined and inspection under UV light reveals no signs of retouching. There are some fine lines of paint shrinkage in places and some very fine lines of craquelure. There are a few tiny flecks of associated paint loss in the lower left quadrant, only visible on close inspection. There are a few further small paint losses to the lower right corner. There is some minor frame abrasion (with associated tiny paint losses) to parts of the extreme edges. There is some light surface dirt throughout. This work is in overall good condition.
