Henri Le Sidaner
Le Pavillon
Property from an Important Private Collection
Henri Le Sidaner
1862 - 1939
Le Pavillon
signed Le Sidaner (lower left)
oil on canvas
81.4 by 100.5cm., 32 by 39½in.
Framed: 98.5 by 118cm., 38¾ by 46½in.
Painted in the artist's garden at Gerberoy in 1909.
The canvas is not lined. There is a thick varnish through which the UV light cannot fully penetrate but UV inspection does reveal several areas of scattered tiny specks of retouching and a spot of historic retouching just to the right of the building and one just above the centre of the fountain pool. The canvas weave is not entirely uniform and there are a few raised lines of weave in places. There are some scattered fine lines of craquelure to the composition and some frame abrasion with associated tiny losses in places to parts of the extreme edges. This work is in overall good condition.
