signed Henry Moret (lower right)
oil on canvas
65.8 by 92.5cm., 26 by 36½in.
Framed: 84.2 by 110cm., 33⅛ by 43¼in.
Painted circa 1906.
This work will be included in the catalogue raisonné being prepared by Jean-Yves Rolland.
The canvas is not lined. Inspection under UV light reveals several spots of retouching to the sky, sea and lower right edge, the most prominent of which is a spot to the left of the upper right quadrant and a further spot to the sea, both of which correspond to repaired tears. There are fine lines of craquelure to the composition and some paint shrinkage in places with associated small losses in the lower left quadrant. There is some frame abrasion to the extreme edges and light surface dirt. This work is in overall good condition.
