signed Bernard Buffet (centre right) and dated 1979 (lower left)

oil on canvas

92.7 by 60.8cm., 36½ by 24in.

Framed: 103.4 by 72cm., 40⅝ by 28⅜in.

Painted in 1979.

The authenticity of this work has been confirmed by Jacques Gasbarian & Ida Garnier.

The canvas is not lined, the edges are taped and inspection under UV light reveals an uneven varnish but no signs of retouching. There is an artist's pinhole to to the upper two corners and one to the lower right corner. There is a tiny paint loss towards the right part of the lower edge and several small paint losses to parts of the extreme left and right edges. There is some paint shrinkage in places, mainly to the black pigment and a few lost impasto tips, only visible upon close inspection. The varnish is slightly discoloured in places. This work is in overall good condition.
