Annette nue assise dans l’atelier

signed Alberto Giacometti and dated 1954 (lower right)

pencil on paper

56.1 by 34.5cm., 22⅛ by 13⅝in.

Framed: 77.5 by 54.5cm., 30½ by 21½in.

Drawn in 1954.

The authenticity of this work has been confirmed by the Comité Giacometti and it is recorded in the Alberto Giacometti database as 4377.

Executed on cream wove paper, laid down on card. The edges are slightly unevenly cut. The sheet is slightly time-stained and there are some occasional creases in places, the most prominent of which is a vertical one just to the left of the figure's feet. There is some scratching and paper skinning throughout the figure which are inherent to the artist's working process. There are some handling marks to the edges, most probably the artist's. This work is in overall good condition.
