LOUIS VUITTON, LOUIS VUITTON ‘LV TRAINER’, SIZE 10.5
Rubber, Leather, Cotton
This lot features a pair of the Louis Vuitton ‘LV Trainers’, signed by Virgil Abloh. First presented during Virgil Abloh’s debut Spring-Summer 2019 show for Louis Vuitton, the LV Trainer has become a staple menswear sneaker. Virgil wrote “Air Abloh" on the sneakers, a peculiar and noticeable reference to Nike on a Louis Vuitton sneaker.
The design was inspired by vintage basketball sneakers, and this bicolor version comes in monogram-embossed grained calf leather with smooth calf-leather trim. The orange and green colorway takes inspiration from the “Sunshine State” of Florida, and is meant to be reminiscent of Miami sports teams.
Made in Italy, each pair takes seven hours of stitching to produce. They feature monogram-embossing, rubber outsoles, monogram flowers at the side, and the “LV” branding at the tongue, heel and eyelets.
Prior to Virgil’s passing on November 28 2021, he was the Louis Vuitton Men’s Artistic Director. His design for the LV trainer was truly innovative and is entirely embellished with Louis Vuitton House codes.
These shoes are accompanied by a Letter from James Spence Authenticated in regards to the signature. Additionally, the lot comes with two polaroids of Virgil posing with the pair.
