Street Musicians

Signed L.S. LOWRY. and dated 1938. (lower right)

oil on canvas

unframed: 43.5 by 53.5cm.; 17 by 21in.

framed: 61 by 71cm.; 24 by 28in.

Executed in 1938.

The work appears sound. The canvas is original. Overall the work appears in very good overall condition. There is some frame abrasion with associated rubbing to the extreme corners and the edges, not visible in the current frame. There are a couple of pinpoint spots of loss to the woman's boot on the left side and to the upper extreme left edge. There is some light surface dust to the work. When inspected under UV, there are a few tiny specks of retouching to the upper edge and one spot in the sky. The work is presented in a painted wooden frame, held under glass.
