Flowers in a Vase, September Diagram

oil on canvas

unframed: 50.5 by 40.5cm.; 20 by 16in.

framed: 63.5 by 53.5cm.; 25 by 21in.

The work appears sound. The canvas is original. Overall, the work appears to be in generally very good condition. There is frame abrasion and rubbing to the extreme edges and the corners. There are some minor instances of craquelure in places, most notably to the centre of the blue flower which has some associated lifting and a few tiny flecks of loss, where there once was a historic tear which has been repaired. There is some light surface dust and dirt, and a few spots of staining. Inspection under UV light reveals some retouching around the aforementioned old repair tear. The work is presented in a painted wooden frame.
