18th/19th Dynasty, 1540-1190 B.C.


most probably Amenhotep III, 1390-1353 B.C., later re-cut and re-employed by Ramesses II, 1279-1213 B.C., from a monumental statue, the king wearing a broad beaded collar and striped nemes-headcloth with fragmentary queue behind, the uraeus and ceremonial beard missing, the beard-straps incised, and with indented earlobes and wide mouth with full lips rounded at the corners, the top of the head with large circular mortise, probably for the addition of the Crown of Upper and Lower Egypt.
