Allegory of the riches of the earth

affixed with an old label in French on the reverse with artist biography

Hoet trained with his father and brother, who were both glass painters, and traveled throughout Europe working for various noble patrons. His experiences painting decorative programs for residences as well as making engravings probably influenced the erudite iconography of this work, which would appeal to an educated patron.
