This composition features a delightful assortment of fruit, including plums, cherries, gooseberries, strawberries, grapes, and a pair of apples arrayed on a dark green tablecloth. The two porcelain bowls, featuring foliate arabesques and chrysanthemum motifs, were almost certainly based on real examples of Jingdezhen ware. Produced in China for the European market, such objects are indicative of the widespread trade networks that fostered material exchange between East and West.
