The charming young sitter wears a yellow dress with pink sleeves embellished with black and white embroidery, a style of gown that typifies Lombard fashion of the 1560s and 1570s. Delicate coral earrings frame her face and pink ribbons adorn her hair.
Though previously thought to depict the Venetian-born Bianca Cappello (1548-1587), the second wife of Francesco de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, the sitter is more likely from another noble family.
