Natural pearl and diamond pendant, second half of the 19th century and later

天然珍珠及鑽石吊墜,19世紀下半葉及之後

Of obovate shape set with circular-, single-cut and rose diamonds, composed of a slightly baroque drop shaped natural pearl measuring approximately 9.85 - 10.50 x 20.70mm capped with rose diamonds, further accompanied by two diamond pendants, later brooch fitting, pearls deficient on the remaining two unillustrated pendants, later hook fittings.

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 124318, stating that the pearl was found to be natural, saltwater.

The set originally belonged to Marie von Hatzfeldt (1820–1897). Born as Countess von Nimptsch, she married Hermann, Prince von Hatzfeldt (1808-1874) in 1847. The Princes of Hatzfeldt held vast estates in the Prussian province of Silesia, modern-day Poland. Their son Hermann Prince von Hatzfeldt (1848-1933) inherited these three pieces. Thence by descent.
A portrait of Marie von Hatzfeldt (1820–1897).
