WITH A SIGNED AUTOGRAPH QUOTATION FROM YEATS' MOST FAMOUS POEM.


Small 4to (211 x 144 mm). Original blue paper covered boards, linen spine, printed labels, later bookplate, collector's green cloth chemise and matching quarter green morocco slipcase, slight discoloration to blue endpapers and covers.


First edition.


One of 500 copies printed by Elizabeth Corbet Yeats, printed in red and black, one illustration after a drawing by Robert Gregory.


WITH AN AUTOGRAPH QUOTATION FROM "THE LAKE ISLE OF INNISFREE" ON FRONT ENDPAPER, in a variant version. Yeats appear to recall the poem from memory here, with a correction in the first line:

"I will arise & go now ['and go to Innisfree' crossed out] for always night & day

I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore

As I stand on the roadway or on the pavement gray

I hear it in the deep hearts core.

Stories of Red Hanrahan contains the first appearance of the author's poem, later known as "The Song of the Wandering Aengus", here as "Hanrahan's Vision".
