The Artist

-------------------

L'artiste

George Bolster is represented by Ulterior Gallery, and his solo exhibition All Life Communicates is currently on view at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris - featuring two gigantic immersive tapestry installations, it runs until 5 June 2022. Additionally, his recent kinetic mobile commission You are Made of Stardust is currently at the newly built Irish Arts Centre in New York.

Bolster’s practice examines the possibilities inherent in human evolution and our species branching out into space, as we try to make ourselves sustainable as a species, utilizing a combination of science, art history and science fiction to examine our most prescient societal and species-wide challenges. He has shown in museums and galleries around the world including: MASS MoCA, Massachusetts, USA; RHA, Dublin, Ireland; MMCA, Seoul, Korea (2019); New Museum Los Gatos, California, USA (2016); Sharjah Art Foundation, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Bolster is the recipient of residencies including: Centre Cultural Irlandais, Paris, France (2019); Elizabeth Foundation for The Arts, New York, USA (2017); SETI Institute, Mountain View, California (2016-17); and the Robert Rauschenberg Residency, Captiva, Florida, USA (2013). His work is held in numerous private and state collections internationally. His first monograph will be published by Hirmer early next year and will feature writing by Denise Markonish, Head of Exhibitions and Senior Curator, Mass MoCA; Sean Kissane, Senior Curator, IMMA, Ireland; and Ian Alden Russell, Artistic Director, The Mattress Factory, Pittburg, Pennsylvania, USA.
