Patek Philippe released the reference 5712 in October 2006 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic Nautilus collection, available initially in stainless steel, pink gold or white gold. It replaced the reference 3712 which was made for only a brief period between 2005 and 2006.
There is perhaps no one single timepiece that can express the essence of asymmetrical beauty, as well as the Nautilus reference 5712. The fan-shaped power reserve indication, the superb moon phases, and the off-center subsidiary seconds, all contribute towards the unprecedented geometry of the dial design. Asymmetry is perhaps just a different way of achieving perfect balance, and the reference 5712 completely embodies this philosophy.
