After 25 years of the manual winding Daytona, the introduction of the automatic reference 16520 was the most important evolution in the history of the celebrated model. The watch was completely redesigned and was fitted with the new caliber 4030 based on the Zenith El Primero movement. Even if the 16520 was produced for only a dozen years, the model saw several developments, mainly consisting in the layout of the dial across all metal types, and update to an in-house movement.
The current Reference 16518 example is a very attractive yellow gold white dialed version with white sub registers and black outer rings displaying an inverted 6 on the 6 o’clock register. These early dials were produced by Singer between 1991 and 1993 and display an upside-down 6 to the bottom sub-dial as well as a non-serif text. Applied gold luminous Arabic numerals add contrast and legibility.
