After designing some of the most iconic watches ever produced, Gerald Genta established his own innovative line of watches, which became popular and recognizable in their own right for their unique design and use of alternative materials. One such model was the Gefica, launched in 1988 and initially intended as a hunter’s watch. Inspired by the sense of adventure and strength that was drawn from a visit to Africa and partaking in game hunting, Genta chose to case the model in bronze. The material would not reflect sunlight, thus alerting the hunter’s prey to their presence.
