The Patek Philippe reference 5089 belongs to the Rare Handcraft series and was launched in 2014 to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the manufacturer. The present example features a marquetry wood dial inspired by an old postcard published in the 20th century, displaying a scenery of Lake Geneva with its traditional barques. These wooden marquetry dials are painstakingly crafted from up to 166 pieces of wood of different species, all assembled on a solid gold plate. It houses the automatic calibre 240 which can be revealed under the hinged case back, for which is engraved “Patek Philippe 175 Anniversary 1839-2014”. Extremely limited and elegant, the present watch represents a significant piece of history from the prestigious manufacturer.
