The Patek Philippe reference 5050 was the brand’s first retrograde perpetual calendar made in series, and the first perpetual calendar since the legendary 2497 and 2438 to feature center sweep seconds. Launched in yellow gold in 1993, it remained in production until 2002 whilst also being offered in pink, white gold, as well as in platinum. The dial features either applied baton markers or Roman numerals, and a moon-phase aperture at 6 o’clock, with later examples featuring the Automatic text below the moon phases.
