A vital part of the F.P. Journe collection, the Octa Lune pays tribute towards the celestial bodies in the skies and is a magnificently elegant dress watch. The Octa Lune has a substantial production history from 2003 to 2015, and can be separated to the first generation from 2003 to 2005, and the second generation from 2004 to 2015. The present example is quite impressive and exhibits traits from both generations.

First and foremost is the movement, made in rhodium plated brass with a round Côtes de Genève pattern. With a total of approximately 2000 brass movements made across all collections, it can be identified that the present movement is from a later part of production for its round pattern. Next is the case, forged in pink gold with a case number of "43-03L", indicating that the case is made in 2003. For the first generation of the Octa Lune, most examples discovered on the market are cased in platinum as it deems a more desirable material for collectors, rendering the present pink gold case rather uncommon. Last but not least, the dial is also made in pink gold and can be identified to be in a first generation configuration. Upon close inspection, one can notice the two screws on the dial at 4 o'clock are slightly wider apart, a trait of the first generation, whereas the second generation of the Octa Lune have the two screws placed closer together. Most first generation Octa Lunes however are found with a yellow gold champagne dial, and F.P. Journe only officially introduced the pink gold dial until the second generation. As the present watch combines the interesting traits across the two generations of the Octa Lune, it is possibly an undiscovered gem towards the end of the first generation with distinctive configurations. The watch is complete with its box and certificate, has received much love from its previous owner and retains a good condition. Today, collectors of F.P. Journe are still uncovering the limitless possibilities of the brand, and the present watch is undoubtedly one fascinating example.
