Being one of the fundamental pillars of the Nautilus collection in the 1970s along with the original reference 3700 and the quartz powered 4700, the reference 3800 is a mid-size version of the 3700 made with the intention to capture a wider audience. With this primary goal, during the years of its production, the 3800 was available in a wider range of configurations, from the metal it was encased in to the dial configurations.
With a more palatable size, the reference 3800 would sit comfortably on anyone’s wrist. Furthermore, over the years the indexes of the present watch have developed an attractive and consistent patina perfectly matching the hands. In attractive condition for its age, the present example is a great find in today’s market.
