Description
A Bezalel Small Wool Pile Carpet, Jerusalem, Circa 1910
in tones of beige and rust with green highlights depicting Mount Sinai approached by ten palm trees and flanked by the trees of Abraham (tamarisk) and Herz’l ( cedar), all seen though an arched colonnade and surrounded by Hebrew inscriptions , the angles with Menorahs, signed at sides
Length 41 ½ in.; Width 24 in.

The text at top and bottom reads: “If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither; let my tongue stick to my palate if I cease to think of you, if I do not keep Jerusalem in memory even at my happiest hour” [Ps. 137:5-6]. In the medallions at the sides: “Bezalel, Jerusalem.” In the center are labeled “Abraham’s Tamarisk,” “Mount Sinai,” and “Herzl’s Cedar.”
