walnut, ebonized walnut, vellum, embossed copper, pewter
13 1/2 x 11 1/2 x 11 1/2 in. (34.3 x 29.2 x 29.2 cm)
Overall in very good condition. The present piece appears to have been adapted as a stool at some point in its history and originally served as the upper element of a plant stand. The wooden surfaces are stable and in age-appropriate condition overall and present with faint scratches, abrasions and minute indentations throughout. The vellum is in well-preserved, age-appropriate condition overall, and presents with faint scratches throughout as well as discoloration, small abrasions and raised grain. The edges and corners of the vellum surfaces with rare instances of lifting, not visibly distracting. The copper presents with light oxidation throughout, consistent with age. The inlaid pieces are stable with some slightly raised areas, not visually distracting.
