A Palissy-type moulded large dish "plat aux reptiles", circa 1600
the deep oval dish moulded in relief and applied with an undulating snake on an island moulded with leaves and shells, above a small frog, below waves reserved with four fish, the border with frogs, a lizard, crayfish, a coiled grass snake and insects among leaves, ferns and shells, the underside with mottled blue and maroon glaze
length 20 7⁄8 in.; 53 cm.
