A large German silver-gilt cup and cover in the 17th century style, probably Hanau, circa 1910


the bowl baluster spool-shaped and on pedestal foot with knopped stem with scrolling buttresses, the detachable cover with finial cast as a knight in armour, overall cast and chased with foliage scrolls, fruit and strapwork, the bowl with landscape cartouches, the rim engraved with an inscription Ex Dono The United Arts Rifles Lodge, 3817, to their first Master, RT. Wor. Bro. Lt. Gen. Sir Francis LLoyd. G. C. V. O., K. C. B., D. L. O, Past Grand Warden. 1917-1919
