This work is in very good condition. The paper support is flat and stable. Very few and discrete dents along the edges. Top and bottom corners showing a faint and discrete discoloration. Discrete and scattered imprints, as well as abrasion dots throughout the background, inherent to the making. One crease visible on the bottom middle edge, crossing the lower part of the strap outline, inherent to time and use. Technique in very good condition. Close inspection reveals no signs of paint lifting or losses. Colors are bright, vivid and well-contrasted.

Piaget is arguably the best known manufacturer of bracelet watches with hardstone dials. Especially throughout the 1960s and 1970s many different examples were produced with exotic materials such as coral, malachite, lapis lazuli, turquoise and opal to name a few.

The present painting by the great Gérald Genta depicts an early design for a rectangular dual time zone wristwatch with coral and malachite dial. While never shared with Piaget and thus never made, it clearly visualizes a model that could very well have fitted in with models that were actually produced.
