Gérald Genta

Gérald Genta was more than the artist creating ground-breaking designs that would change the horological world forever. He is the only one who included an oneiric dimension to his creations. He caught the very essence of the emotion a watch can provoke: a magical dream. 

With the present Fantasia Mickey Magician, the Maestro achieved the summit of rendering this feeling. He did it with in such a simple form, that only a complete mastery of his art could create.

Mickey points at the minutes with his magic stick. Dressed as a wizard, he embodies the magical art of telling the time that has fascinated the human race for centuries. The stars surrounding him on a midnight blue background add further a fairylike feeling to the composition. 

As a character for children, Mickey reminds us our amazement for the technicality of the movement behind the dial. More importantly, he also evokes the happiness, pleasure and enjoyment we all felt at a younger age when being gifted a toy, and the same feelings today a new watch coming into our life should provoke. 

This was the mission Gérald Genta assigned to himself, creating for us a magical dream through his timepieces. This design perfectly renders it and, as such, could be considered as his artistic manifesto.
