the upper half with glazed doors opening to three adjusting shelves, the lower section with two cupboard doors depicting Hercules battling the Hydra, opening to reveal two shelves, raised on a base with canted corners, partially reconstructed, losses, restorations

249cm. high, 147cm. wide, 47cm. deep; 8ft. 2in., 4ft. 9⅞in., 1ft. 6½in.

In overall good restored condition. Generally with minor age cracks along some of the construction lines (especially along the edges of the lower cupboard doors), old marks, scratches, liftings, losses and replacements to brass and ebony inlays, consistent with age and use. Some detached inlays which would benefit from being re-attached. The top of the upper half with age cracks and liftings and minor losses to ebony veneers. Minor rubbing and tarnishing to gilt-bronze mounts. Two keys. Replacements to inlays. Top moulding of pediment probably later. This armoire displays typical signs of age and use, and would benefit from further attention, according to taste.
