A George I chevron-banded walnut bureau cabinet, circa 1720


the moulded pediment above a pair of mirrored doors, opening to reveal an oak interior with an array of pigeonholes, shelves and drawers, above two candle slides, the bureau with bookplate veneered fall front with folio support moulding, opening to reveal a fitted walnut interior with an arrangement of pigeonholes and short drawers of which one is fitted with inkwells and penholders, over a central well with slide, and a later inset baize writing surface, the dummy frieze with lopers, above two short and two long drawers, on bun feet
