Description
Château Lafite 1991
Pauillac, 1er Cru Classé
Levels into the neck, 1 signs of old seepage, 4 original tissues
Only great growths, well-placed near the Gironde, were able to survive the severe April frost this year. At Lafite, very good wine from first generation grapes was made and you can be sure you have a rarity too! Full colour. Good vinosity and fruit on the nose and depth of fruit on the palate - supple, with surprising length. In 2009, from Imperial, it had a classic cedarwood nose of great intensity and projection. Chocolate and spices, with total youth in this format. Not top-ripe, but so well-defined. A mouthful. In 2021 and from magnum, this sings Lafite and is silkily full of classy black fruit and that signature texture of sheer breed. Wonderfully satisfying. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
