Circa 1740


• Movement: gilded full plate, verge escapement, plain three-arm balance, decoratively pierced and engraved balance bridge, faux ruby endstone, fusee and chain, square baluster pillars, bearing the signaure Durand, London, no. 39

• Dial: silver champlevé, Roman numerals with half-hour divisions between, arcaded Arabic outer minute ring, aperture at 12 revealing 5 rotating polychrome enamel portraits, signature banners to centre partially cut-out for aperture

• Cases: plain silver inner, maker's marks IPB beneath a crown and GP beneath a sabre, plain plunge pendant • silver scallop-form outer case the ridges alternatly set with plain, gilded and pierced decoration heightened with clear and coloured pastes, central stylised rose-window form motif set with faceted clear pastes, bezel set with coloured pastes
