An unusual silver dual time-zone watch with compass made for the Chinese market

circa 1850

• Movement: unsigned gilded Chinese-style calibre with pierced scrolling bridgework, lever escapement, compensation balance

• Dial: white enamel, two subsidiary dials for time each with Roman numerals, marked respectively London & Paris, outer minute ring, blued steel hands, centre seconds, subsidiary dial for compass

• Case: Continental silver, engine-turned back centred by a vacant shield-shaped cartouche, polished cuvette with apertures for winding and setting each dial, numbered 23478
