Movement: striped nickel ¾ plate, gold lever and escape wheel, 20 jewels, bi-metallic compensation balance, diamond endstone, signed and numbered J. Assmann, Dresden, no.5703

Dial: silver dial, the centre decoratively chased and engraved with gilded flowers, chapter ring with Roman numerals interspersed by finely engraved scrolls, outer satin minute ring, sunken subsidiary seconds, the border with silver and gold scrolling leaves and foliage, blued steel hands, signed J. Assmann, Dresden

Case: 18ct gold, highly decoratively chased and engraved covers, the front with glazed aperture surrounded by translucent blue enamel chapter ring and white Roman numerals, the back chased and engraved with symmetrically arranged flowers and foliage, a vacant shield-shaped cartouche to the centre, heavily chased and engraved band, the pendant and bow similarly decorated, hand-set lever beneath bezel between 4 and 5 o'clock, polished gold cuvette engraved with flowers and foliage and signed and numbered J. Assmann, Dresden, no. 5703, back cover numbered 5703, front cover numbered 03
