An unusual silver and niello keyless watch with twin-opening covers

Circa 1900 

• Movement: unsigned, decoratively engraved nickel bar movement, lever escapement, bi-metallic compensation balance

• Dial: oval white enamel, Roman numerals, outer minute track, the top and base of the dial with polychrome enamel painted flowers

• Case: silver and niello, the covers with twin opening in the form of double doors, decorated with scrolling flowers and foliage and two stylised fish-form fountains, the back similarly decorated with scrolling foliage, olivette beside pendant for hand setting, case back with indistinct incuse mark, probably JBC and control mark
