The Reference 14060M was introduced in 1999 as an upgrade of the 14060. The M stands for Modified. Indeed, the 14060M brought several upgrades, mainly consisting in the use of the Calibre 3130 instead of the Calibre 3000.
In 2007, the 14060M became chronometre certified, allowing a 4-line dial instead of the traditional 2-line. Finally, in 2008, Rolex started engraving the rehaut.
This lot is a most attractive example of the original 2-line configuration. These pieces are often favoured by collectors who prefer this layout for its vintage feel, reminiscent of the 5513 and earlier Submariner models.
