Cabernet Sauvignon 76%, Merlot 14%, Cabernet Franc 8%, Petit Verdot 2%. This was the last vintage of Patrick Léon, with Philippe Dhalluin coming in for the 'élevage'. In 2022, it has a very deep colour and a great nose of blackcurrants and liquorice, oozing First Growth stature. Total succulence and richness on the palate, so juicy, opulent and luscious. Stunning ripeness that is beautifully managed in this hot vintage, as freshness is maintained - the glories of Cabernet Sauvignon revelling in warmth. This wine has always been a stand-out, a true celebration of 150 years of Rothschild ownership. Serena Sutcliffe, MW

Celebrating the life and tastes of an oenophile, this beautiful collection comes to auction from a single, purpose-built and temperature-controlled private cellar in the South of Europe. All the wines were directly purchased from one of the most prestigious, reputable and highly-respected merchants in Bordeaux. The Classic taste of the late owner is obvious, with an impressive depth of Cru Classé Bordeaux on offer from the 1990s to 2010s, with an extensive representation across First Growths to Fifth Growths, together with an outstanding representation of some of the greatest Crus recently produced in Saint-Emilion and Pomerol. Beyond Bordeaux, we glimpse more of the collector’s tastes with a small selection of Super Tuscans and iconic Californian gems. Great vintages are a gift from Mother Nature and this collection has assembled some of the best wines produced in Bordeaux for the past decade in tremendous quantities with a large variety of formats from half bottles to double magnums.
