Description

Château Cheval Blanc 1975

St. Emilion, 1er Grand Cru Classé (A)

u. 1bn, 1 level just into neck, labels slightly soiled, 1 slightly scuffed; Etiquettes légèrement sales, 1 légèrement éraflée

A low yield of 21 hl/hectare. 13% alcohol. Just so intensely spicy and concentrated. Great freshness. That coriander finish one sometimes finds in a Cheval. From Jeroboam, it can be very chocolatey and truffley. It is a highly individual, very special wine that I love and it is certainly at the very top of the 1975s. In 2011, a wonderful, ferny, classy, elegant nose. Magic persistence. Some aniseed. Great sweetness on the palate. So tempting. The most delicious 1975 anywhere now. Perfect balance. Elegance and refinement, sweetness and such finesse of texture. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
