Description
Château Cheval Blanc 2016
St. Emilion, 1er Grand Cru Classé (A)
Merlot 58%, Cabernet Franc 38%, Cabernet Sauvignon 4%. The driest summer since 1898 and this has a higher proportion than usual of Merlot. In 2021, a lovely, spicy, cinnamon and nutmeg nose, opening out like a fan. Tremendous black fruit, leather and cocoa taste, all in perfect balance. A glorious wine, showing true nobility of tone and terroir. Mega impressive and at the pinnacle of all the 2016s. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
