The reference 1019 ‘Milgauss’ is one of the most distinctive of all vintage Rolex watches. First introduced in the early 1960s, with its completely re-designed case and dial, the 1019 represented a dramatic departure from the styling of its 6541 and 6543 predecessors.
Primarily aimed to meet the demands of scientists and engineers, the Milgauss was designed to be used by those working in areas where exposure to strong magnetic fields was unavoidable and can affect the precision of their watches. By applying the use of anti-magnetic alloys and an iron movement ‘cage’, Rolex had successfully overcame the effects of the strong magnetic fields.
