illustrated woodblock-printed book, three volumes (complete), original dark blue covers decorated with plovers (chidori) in flight and title slips, later edition, the half-length portraits opening and closing the illustrated sections of each volume are titled: 

- Volume one: Young Woman of the Upper Class (Jobun no musume); Young Man of the Upper Class (Jobun no wakashu)

- Volume two: Untitled, but depicting a courtesan; Young Man of the Lower Class (Gebon no wakashu)

- Volume three: Young Man from Yoshi-cho (Yoshicho no wakashu); Young Woman of the Lower Class (Gebon no musume)
