A large gold and enamel cigarette case, probably Geneva, mid-19th century
rectangular with rounded corners, the lid applied with an oval enamel plaque of a group of adults in fancy dress at a vivid game of blind man’s buff in an elegant interior, on a ground of opaque white enamel around a leafy border, transitioning into scrollwork to each side, on a finely chased scrollwork ground within gold volute rim and translucent scarlet enamel and gold foliate border, polished waisted gold sides, the base similarly decorated and centred with an oval plain armorial cartouche in a black taille d’épargne enamel frame, apparently unmarked
